Description
In Oroborous, a paper thread spun from a dictionary page passes through a pencil to draw a circle.
Statement
Oroborous plays with the fundamentals of drawing by transforming paper, line, and gesture into both medium and subject. The paper is traditionally seen as a neutral support for marks and words. In this work the paper thread passes through a hollowed pencil making a circular gesture, indicating that paper can be both support and content.
With this work, I invite viewers to reconsider drawing as a process where material, mark, and meaning are inseparable, asserting the centrality of paper in art.
