Description
Unlearning the Piano is a single-channel video of the artist playing five exercises on the piano: in Exercise #1 a pair of hands in garden gloves plays a simple melody; Exercise #2 – with the left hand in a black glove and the right in a white glove, they play a piece on keys that have strips of felt attached; in Exercise #3 bandaged hands play a piece of music by Yann Thiersen; in Exercise #4 only a grey sheet of felt is visible and the movement of hands underneath as they play blindly searching the notes; in Excercise #5 hands in hockey gloves play a recognizable stanza from Hockey Night in Canada.

Unlearning the Piano was made as a humorous demonstration of how to break old piano playing habits.
