Description

Two vertical panels join at the centre to create a corner. A plaster hand, a ceramic ear and a small ceramic female figure are integrated into the panels.

Statement

Angerona was one of a group of my very first sculptures. They were made for the exhibition, Du coin de l’oeil, La Troisième Galerie, Québec City. The work is a representation of Angerona the Roman goddess of the winter solstice. In art she was represented with a bandaged mouth and a finger raised to represent silence. She was regarded as the goddess of the corner, able to help relieve human pain and sorrow and anyone suffering the difficulties of winter.

Exhibition History

Description

Du coin de l’œil was Karen Trask’s first solo exhibition of sculptures and drawings. She presented three new sculptures and a series of untitled drawings. Ideas about the representation and the passing of time were inspirational in the creation of the works.
