Description
In Fire and In Water presents two pairs of hands on the wall reaching upwards. They dissolve into coloured threads at the elbow: one set of hands in red pigmented threads and the other in blue.
This work has been transformed from the original works entitled Sondes, presented in the exhibition, Noeuds d’écoute/ Listening Knots, Oboro, Montreal, 2019.
In Fire and In Water présente deux paires de mains sur le mur qui se tendent vers le haut. Elles se dissolvent en fils colorés au niveau du coude : une paire de mains en fils pigmentés rouges et l’autre en fils bleus.
Cette œuvre a été transformée à partir des œuvres originales intitulées Sondes, présentées dans l’exposition, Nœuds d’écoute/ Listening Knots, Oboro, Montréal, 2019.
Statement
In Fire and In Water is a comment on global warming and the growing climate disaster. Increasing wild fires and torrential rains and floods are bringing heavy costs to the environment and to human life – a situation we continue to either ignore or to wring our hands in worry and in the inability to act.
In Fire and In Water est un commentaire sur le réchauffement de la planète et la catastrophe climatique croissante. La multiplication des incendies de forêt, des pluies torrentielles et des inondations entraîne des coûts élevés pour l’environnement et la vie humaine, une situation que nous continuons à ignorer ou à nous tordre les mains d’inquiétude et d’incapacité à agir.
