Description
In The Waves in Eflat & F (A conversation with my Mother) (Play Poem I) a drawing of a keyboard in the sand is slowly erased by the movement of the waves and the tide. The video was shot in one take on the beach of Hornby Island, British Columbia in the Strait of Georgia. In the soundtrack, the artist plays a two note melody on the piano, E-flat and F.
Upon request of Sophie Jodoin, a twenty-minute version of the soundtrack for this work was recorded by Karen, and was used by Jodoin for her video projection, Un seul souffle presented in 2023 at Artext.
Statement
The Waves in Eflat & F (A conversation with my Mother) (Play Poem I) is part of a series of videos, sculptures and performances inspired by Virginia Woolf’s The Waves. I was imagining what she would do today with a video camera.
